My Flower Girls

The girls had an opportunity to be flower girls this Thursday. They were treated so special. The wedding was beautiful, as most weddings are. This one was outside with wildflowers, barefoot bridesmaids, park benches, and the most elegant flower girls ever. Jessica (the bride) and her mother spent several days last week making flower baskets with the girls, swimming, and just taking time to show them that they are special. I am sure that this family had so many things that could have consumed their thoughts and time but they chose to take of their precious time and invest it in my children. Thank you Jessica and Sharon, the girls will never forget you.

Strawberry Pickn' 2007

Today we went strawberry picking. We go every year and have soooo much fun. You can eat while you pick and boy do we eat. We eat until we can't even taste the strawberries anymore. They are so warm and juicy. The children try to fill up their buckets with the biggest and reddest ones that they can find. Usually by the time that we are finished picking we all have red faces and red hands. Tonight we are having strawberry cobler with vanilla ice cream, tomorrow I will make strawberry bread for breakfast, and after all the little hands have reached in the bucket for "just one more" the strawberries will be all gone....until next year. Thank you Lord for blessing us with STRAWBERRIES!!!

Jadon learns to swim

Jadon has always had no fear of water. Last year he had shown that he was going to be a fish. The other children always went thru a phase around 2 when they were just not afraid but when the next summer came they grew up a little and understood danger more. Therefore, they showed more respect for the water. Not Jadon! He has no fear so we knew we must teach him to swim. Today I got in the pool with him and was going to show him what would happen without his floaties. Well, he showed me. He ducked his head, swam across the pool, came up for air and, kept on swimming. So we are more afraid now then we were before. Not only does he have no fear but he is confident that he can conquer any water. He doesn't swim to me, he swims away from me. Please pray that Jadon stays safe this summer and I remember to take the ladder out of the pool.

John Mark's first oreo

John Mark is being able to enjoy life a lttle more than some of my children. When the girls were little they would have never had an oreo at 8 months old. Elyona had an almost sugar free strawberry shortcake for her first birthday. French fries were an absolute no no. An oreo at 8 months old, I will agree, is not the best thing and don't worry, I will not make a habit of it but, it sure does make a cute picture.

Memorial weekend

We had an opportunity to spend the day at the river. We had such a wonderful time! The children were able to swim and ride in a fast boat. In the picture above all the men have gotten all the children in the boat with three being pulled behind. A few fell in as well as a few dads. Eric got a chance to ski and knee board. It had been 12 years since the last time and boy was it different. He could hardly get out of bed the next day.

This is the oldest and youngest of the cousins right now on Eric's side of the family. Elyona is 9 and the new Simon Jesse is 3 weeks with a total of 13 in the middle. But of course in this family, the youngest doesn't hold the position long. Rhiannon is expecting this Christmas.
